Some Things to Know about Southeastern University

by Rev. Mary Harmison, Academic Director for SEU Ohio

Dr. Kent Ingle, President of Southeastern University (SEU), recently released the 2022 President's Report. Below are some highlights and things you might not know about Southeastern University.

  • 10,044 is the total enrollment as of fall 2022

  • 3,401 students enrolled at extension sites such as SEU Ohio

  • 258 students in Ohio

  • 27:1 is the faculty to student ratio

  • 67.5% of faculty have terminal degrees

  • SEU ranks in the top 1% among fastest-growing private universities nationwide (Chronicle of Higher Education)

  • SEU is a top performer in social mobility and diversity (U.S. News & World Report)

  • SEU is accredited to award associate through doctoral degrees through SACSCOC

Why is SEU growing? SEU's mission is equipping students to discover and develop their divine design to serve Christ and the world through Spirit-empowered life, learning, and leadership. According to President Ingle, the heartbeat of SEU is serving the local church. "We are empowering the next generation to use the giftings God has placed on their lives in their field of study and vocation." The university continues to innovate to offer affordable and accessible programs while partnering with local churches in the SEU Network of partner sites that now has a global reach. Ingles' desire is "for SEU to be the university students want to attend because they know they will acquire the knowledge and experiences they need to serve the church locally and globally."

At SEU Ohio, students from Ohio and neighboring states are participating in this vision through dual credit courses for high school students (Early SEU), by earning undergraduate degrees, by interning at churches, ministries, businesses, and non-profit organizations around the state, and through advanced studies in graduate-level programs. They are becoming pastors, teachers, human service professionals, entrepreneurs, musicians, designers, missionaries, leaders, volunteers, and advocates for those who cannot advocate for themselves. SEU Ohio is helping to transform lives through education so that students can, in turn, transform their communities with the message and mission of hope. In academic year 2022-2023, SEU Ohio students contributed over 11,700 volunteer service hours in their churches and communities. Will you join us in serving the church locally and globally?
